What You Didn't Consider Cards

What You Didn't Consider Cards
A Cultural Safety Blind-Spot Deck for organisations ready to do better.
Most organisations don’t set out to cause harm - but harm still happens when you don’t see what sits outside your cultural lens.
This 32 card deck exposes the blind spots that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples navigate every day - the unseen risks, the quiet cuts, the moments of harm that are often missed, dismissed or denied.
This is not a comfort tool. It’s a clarity tool. If you want to build a culturally safe organisation, you have to learn to see what we’ve always had to.
A brand new set of cards from Blak Ignited.
Ideas for Use:
Group Reflection and Discussion: Use the cards as prompts in facilitated sessions with staff teams, leadership groups, or volunteers to:
draw a card and discuss what it reveals about blind spots in your organisation
explore real scenarios where cultural safety was compromised and what could be done differently. This invites deep reflection rather than surface-level answers, helping people talk about why certain actions (or inactions) can be harmful.
Cultural Safety Training Activities: Integrate the cards into cultural safety or cultural capability training
Team Accountability Sessions: Use the cards to:
identify blind spots your team may unintentionally embody
set measurable actions to address these gaps in everyday practice
Leadership Reflection: Leaders can use the cards privately or in leadership cohorts to:
reflect on individual assumptions
examine how policies or structures might perpetuate cultural harm
This supports leaders to examine systemic blind spots rather than just individual attitudes
